2017 Dodge Challenger GT debuts
Musclecars on slippery ground? Rather a rarity. The reason for this is simple: most of the U.S. cars send the enormous engine power exclusively to the rear wheels. Now something is changing. A very rear-wheel drive four-wheel drive
In the engine room is a 3.6-liter V6, which is good for 309 hp and 353 Nm torque. Coupled is the Chrysler Pentastar engine to an eight-speed automatic. New is the variable all-wheel drive, which is already used in the Charger AWD. During normal driving, the front axle is completely switched off and 100% of the engine power reaches the rear wheels. If the sensor system of the vehicle detects the need for more traction, the front axle is automatically switched. The manufacturer does not reveal how much of the driving force can be routed forward.
Three ESP levels and year-round tires
What Dodge is saying, however, is that the Challenger GT has three different ESP levels. The "full-off" mode will continue to allow enormous drifts and torment the rubber. Keyword Rubber: In the wheel arches are 19-inch alloy wheels, which were allotted with 235-all-weather tires. Also on board: foglights , a rear spoiler and a reversing camera.Extensive series equipment
Interior, the Challenger GT 2017 offers a wide range of standard equipment. These include Nappa leather-covered seats that can be heated and ventilated, steering wheel heating, a 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android car, an Alpine audio system and a universal garage door opener. Optional are Sportsitze (for the first time in a V6 Challenger) in a nappa leather Alcantara mix.
