Starting from March 2017: The plug-in 5 series

Just a few weeks after the launch of the standard model in February 2017, the 5 series will be expanded in March 2017 by a plug-in hybrid variant called the 530e iPerformance. The drive corresponds basically to the 330e iPerformance, but the electric branch is stronger. Here, the 184 hp 2.0-liter turbofan is combined with a 95 hp (70 kw) electric motor. The system output is 252 hp, the system torque is 420 Newtonmeter. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. The car accelerates to 6.200 km / h in 6.2 seconds and achieves a top speed of 235 km / h - thus the car is about the level of the new 530i. The plug-in-5s drive up to 50 kilometers, the electric top speed is 140 km / h. For both values the plug-in-5 saddles against the small brother 330e (40 km and 120 km / h) something on it. This is made possible by a larger battery (9.2 instead of 7.6 kilowatt hours) and the stronger electric motor (95 instead of 88 hp).

From March 2017: The new M550i xDrive

Until the introduction of the new M5, we have to be patient. In the meantime, fans can comfort themselves with the M550i xDrive. The interim top model has a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 petrol engine with 462 hp as well as 650 newton-meters of torque. In addition, a rear-wheel-drive four-wheel drive and a 10-millimeters lower sports suspension. The intersection of business limousines and sports models accelerates with the standard eight-speed automatic in 4.0 seconds on country road speed, and is thus between the Mercedes-AMG E 43 (4.6 seconds) and the E 63 (3.5 seconds), also starting in March 2017 ). An adequate response to the latter BMW probably only comes back with the new M5.

From February 2017: the new 5 series

The standard versions of the seventh generation of the 5 Series start worldwide in February 2017. Improved vehicle dynamics, new assistance systems and an innovative operating system are the most important innovations. BMW Connected Onboard (a personalized start-up screen for each driver) and Remote 3D View - so you can keep an eye on the car's surroundings at all times on your smartphone. BMW ConnectedDrive finally expands the real-time traffic information (RTTI) by a danger preview. In this case, sensory data from other BMWs were used to warn the driver of accidents and storms.

From spring 2017: Improved 6 series

The 6 series offers new extras for spring 2017. Coupé, Cabrio and Gran Coupe can be designed more sporty inside and outside. The choice of the varnishing is complemented by a new blue metallic tone. In conjunction with the M-Sport package, the 6-Series can also be equipped with new Bicolor 20-inch wheels and interior with carbon strips.
