Detroit - The Toyota Camry is the best-selling car in the US after the pickups Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Dodge Ram. Now there is a follow-up model for the long-range model, which will be shown for the first time at the NAIAS 2017 in Detroit (8 to 22 January).

Design : More fresh look

The 2018 Toyota Camry comes flatter than the current model. Thanks to a lower roof line and a flatter hood, the focus also falls, which should be of benefit to the driving dynamics. Combined with newly designed bumpers and a second-hand radiator grille, the Camry looks much more sporty than before.

New drives on a new platform

Technically, the Camry is based on Toyota's new TNGA platform. The wheelbase grows by about five centimeters. On the drive side - The new Camry 2018 comes with three new powertrain options: Upgraded models get a 3.5-liter V6 with direct injection; less expensive trims use a new 2.5-liter four with an eight-speed automatic. The hybrid will get a “next-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS II). Also new is the double-wishbone rear axle. A modified engine suspension is intended to minimize disturbing vibrations in the interior. New Camry 2018 will come with four grades : LE, XLE, SE, XSE.

Plenty of space in the interior
The view from the cockpit of the new Camry should benefit from a flatter dashboard. New front seats and a lower positioned rear bench in the rear promise more space and greater comfort. In addition, Toyota is installing a new infotainment system with head-up display, smartphone-like operation and a JBL music system in the Camry. A WLAN hotspot as well as the possibility to start the Camry with a remote control and to check various parameters such as the tank level, round off the technology offer. In the new Camry, there is also an abundance of assistance systems from the wheel-siding warning system to emergency braking assistance.
