In Los Angeles, Honda has presented the concept version of its new fuel cell vehicle. Called 2015 Honda FCEV Concept.
The Honda FCEV Concept gives an outlook on the successor of the FCX Clarity. The design of the FCEV Concept is again a lot more futuristic than that of the FCX Clarity.
The ultra-aerodynamic body acts like freshly sprung from a science fiction movie, but it should offer five passengers plenty of space and comfort.
The extra space is also the new technology due to, first, the fuel cell is completely placed in the engine compartment, thereby considerably more space for passengers and luggage is available. The new fuel cell stack Honda has also made some significant improvements, which should continue to drive the series forward capability.
Compared to the FCX Clarity power density of the fuel cell stack has been increased by 60 percent, while the size of the unit was reduced to 33 percent.
The range should be at 480 kilometers and can be refueled with 700 bar in just three minutes, which provides a tremendous advantage over the many hours of charging batteries.
With the production version of Honda FCEV will be but probably can be expected until 2015, then the infrastructure for refueling should already be better than today.
